April Meeting Wrap-up
Bill Hunter gave an update about the EAA’s Ray Scholarship winners. Congratulations to Ben Morris! In addition, Maggie-ann Bathgate was the very close runner-up.
There are a couple of items for our calendar, which you can see here:
https://www.eaa277.org/calendar/ First, we will be having a breakfast fly-out to Lollie’s Cafe on Saturday April 27. Plan on arriving at the Sparta airport around 8:30. The restaurant is across the road from the airport. Bring a friend. If you have a spare seat, or need a ride, you can send an email out to our group at eaa277@googlegroups.com
Larry Flesner is organizing a work day at the Veterans Airport to clean out some storage areas. The deal is, we will clear the junk out of the hangars and hand it over to Sean who will sell/scrap it out. He will then split the proceeds with the chapter. The date is May 11, 9:00 to 12:00.
Dick Cannon informed the chapter about the passing of Gene Biggs. Mr. Biggs was a highly respected flight instructor for the SIU-C aviation flight department. Here is his obituary.
Don Morris gave a tour of the SIU-C helicopter facility. It was interesting to know that this is the only university helicopter maintenance training program in the USA.
If you haven’t paid your 2019 dues, please pay up to Mike Fleming.
Next month’s meeting, Mike Fleming will be talking composites and give a demonstration.
